You’re actually buying a very specific amount of light—measured in microwatts per square centimeter—designed to do one thing: hit that 253.7 nm peak and wreck microbial DNA. A lot of cheap bulbs use low-grade quartz. The problem is that bad quartz actually absorbs the UVC rays.
