Why the Quartz Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about the glass: if it’s low-grade, it blocks the shortwave radiation. To make up for that, you end up cranking the heat just to get your curing done. That’s a recipe for disaster because it burns out your filaments way too fast. We use high-purity fused quartz. It lets the UV light through without a fight. Plus, because we control the melt, the walls of the tube are consistent. No thin spots, no “hot spots,” and way less chance of the tube cracking when the temperature swings.
The Heat Struggle
If you’re running high-output industrial lines, you know the deal. More wattage means faster line speeds, which is great. But it also puts a massive amount of stress on the quartz. If you stuff a high-wattage lamp into a tight housing and forget about airflow, the quartz is going to degrade. Fast. It’s a simple fix, though. Just make sure your cooling fan’s CFM matches the lamp’s wattage. Your sockets will thank you.
