By sticking with high-purity quartz and cutting out mercury fillers wherever we can, we’ve basically removed that “oh no” moment when a tube burns out and leaks toxins. And it’s not just about being green. These materials are tougher. They handle the heat better, which means the lamp doesn’t just give up after a few hundred on-and-off cycles.
Built to actually last
A lamp is only as strong as its weakest link. For us, that’s usually the electrodes and the seal. We spent a lot of time tweaking the gas mix and the shape of the electrodes to stretch out the lifespan. For your crew, that means less downtime and fewer annoying “drop-in” replacements. But a word of advice: these lamps still need to breathe. If you cram them into a tight space and run them at max wattage without enough airflow, they’re going to wear out faster. Make sure your cooling fans are actually doing their job to keep things cool.
The honest truth about the cost
